The Archelogical Park

In the heart of the Greek capital you suddenly find yourself catapulted into the past and living 5000 years of history, on a promenade that is more than 4 km long and spread over an area of 140 acres, crossing parks, along lanes and over wooded hills.

When you enter the archaeological park of ancient Athens you can abandon the present and be submerged by the past and still be able to hear the echoes of philosophers' and scholars' steps.

The park houses the main archaeological sites of the capital, as well as some of its main museums of the Acropolis, Agorà and Keramikos. It covers nearly all the surface of Athens as it was more than 2500 years ago.

The visitor has the chance of walking along the very roads used by Pericles, Socrates, Sophocles, Euripides, Plato and many others. It is a great city park, where you can admire the legacy of the past and re-live the dawn of democracy and of western civilization in a peaceful environment.
